Afribobo, one of Central Africa’s leading online classifieds platforms, is proud to announce its
official membership in the Coalition to End Wildlife Trafficking Online. The Coalition,
convened by WWF, TRAFFIC, and IFAW, brings together global tech companies in a united
effort to disrupt illegal wildlife trade across the internet.
As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability and responsible digital commerce,
Afribobo has already taken decisive action by integrating automated algorithms to detect and
block advertisements featuring protected species. These measures, implemented since
October 2022, ensure that such listings are filtered out before ever appearing on the site.
“Our platform plays an important role in connecting people and opportunities across the
region,” said Jules Ndam, Founder and CEO of Afribobo. “But with that opportunity comes
responsibility. We are proud to be taking this step with the Coalition and TRAFFIC to help
protect Africa’s rich wildlife from exploitation online.”
With TRAFFIC’s support, Afribobo will further strengthen its platform by:
Updating and enforcing its wildlife trade policies to align with Coalition standards;
Training internal teams to better detect and respond to suspicious content;
Collaborating with conservation partners to refine detection algorithms and
enforcement strategies;
Raising user awareness about the importance of wildlife protection and the illegality
of trading endangered species.
“TRAFFIC welcomes Afribobo to the Coalition,” said Denis Mahonghol, Director of
TRAFFIC’s Central Africa Programme Office. “Afribobo’s leadership as a Central African
tech platform sends a powerful signal to others in the region that online wildlife trafficking
must be tackled collectively and proactively.”
The Coalition aims to reduce illegal online wildlife trade by eliminating opportunities for
traffickers across digital platforms, ensuring that illicit activity is not simply displaced from
one site to another. Afribobo joins over 40 companies worldwide in advancing this mission.
As Afribobo continues to grow as a trusted online marketplace, it is also stepping up as a
responsible digital actor—helping to protect endangered species, uphold the law, and create
a safer, more ethical online space for all.
